My journey with cars started young, at just 17, with a classic 1974 Holden HZ Kingswood. That old girl, purchased for a mere $300, sparked a lifelong passion. 3 speed column change that spent its life on forestry roads. It was rusty, the bench seat on the driverside had been squashed by a no doubt large moari fella who's sit right on the edge so he could hang his arm out the window and the column would always jamb, meaning you often see me tearing around, ringing the old girl out stuck in 1st gear.

Me and my grandad Ray used to fix things on the car initially making it look worse than when it was purchased. My girlfriend and I would find old Kingswoods on peoples farms and go and buy them next to nothing. I remember when we found a 1970 HZ Belmont, it was parked up in 1990's and left to rust away in a paddock, not a dent or scratch on it, interior was absolutely mint, just tons of rust. We towed with a 2 metre rope back home through the Welcome Bay hills, completely legal in New Zealand back in the 90s. This where I learnt about dismantling vehicles and the satuisfaction of transforming a heap ready for the scrap heap into a gem. 

It wasn't until 20 years later until I moved to Norfolk Island when my 1st daughter was born that I find myself working for a rental car company. There was myself and another person. We'd sometimes collect up to 15 cars from the airport and have 4-5 hours to detail all the vehicles and have them ready back at the airport for new flight coming in. This is where I learnt the importance of processes and going over things once. Fully Detailed follow the moto that I learnt back then - Do it once, do it right.

When my second child was born in 2015 I brought a 2005 Holden VZ Commodore which ended up being the vehicle I used to cart all my detailing kit around in and became my ultimate canvas. Often using this car as proof i knew what I was doing – constantly seeking ways to keep her looking mint, from treating plastics to pulling dents. What began as hand waxing and polishing evolved into mastering machine polishing. Who's going to let somebody who just launched a detailing business, with no insurance machine polish there $350,000 Maserati. Luckily I could reference my Commodore which looked like it had just rolled out of the showroom.

The thrill of transforming a car, making it look like it just rolled off the showroom floor decades later, is what drives Fully Detailed. This isn't just work; it's a passion, and I get a genuine buzz from every transformation.

Now in our 3rd year of business, having detailed hundreds of cars, transforming dozens that were ready for the scrap into gems that'll go around the clock again.
